History

The Dachshund was developed in Germany, where dachs is German for badger and hund is German for dog. The size of early Dachshunds varied widely. The canines used to hunt boar and badgers weighed between 30 and 35 pounds. Smaller 12-pound Dachshunds pursued hares and weasels, whereas larger 16 to 22-pound Dachshunds hunted foxes and deer. The breed, also known as the Teckel in Germany, was developed over a long period of time by German foresters in the 18th and 19th centuries. They sought to create a courageous, long-legged dog that was capable of entering badger burrows and, if necessary, fighting the badger to the death within.

Dachshunds have maintained their position as one of the most well-liked family dogs in the United States since the 1950s. While dachshunds are rarely used as hunting dogs in the United States or Great Britain, they are nevertheless regarded as such in other countries of Europe, particularly France. Among the 155 breeds and types that the AKC recognises today, the Dachshund is currently ranked sixth.

Personality

The Dachshund is characterised as intelligent, vivacious, and brave to the point of recklessness. He was bred for tenacity, which is another way of stating that he has a tendency toward stubbornness. Although they have a reputation for being amusing and daring, dachshunds really want want to be cuddled by their owners. This trait surpasses having to put up with the breed's insistence on doing things his own way for many Dachshund owners. The type of coat can also affect the personality of a dachshund. Dachshunds, like all dogs, require early socialisation, or exposure to a wide variety of people, sights, noises, and experiences, when they are young. In order to guarantee that your Dachshund puppy develops into a well-rounded dog, socialisation is important.

Care

Dachshunds are extremely resilient and energetic. They enjoy hunting and digging, as well as going for walks or playing outside with other dogs. As long as they get a moderate amount of daily activity, they may thrive in limited living spaces and are active even within the home. It's ideal to take two daily half-mile walks that last around ten minutes each. Sometimes, when there isn't much time, playing fetch will satisfy their urge for activity. They should reside inside the house because they are not suitable for living outside or in a kennel. If properly motivated, dachshunds can pick things up rapidly. To sustain their interest, use positive stimuli like food prizes or a beloved toy, and keep training sessions brief.

Importance of KCI

Also known as the Kennel Club of India, KCI is a professional body that maintains strict standards across various breeds of dogs across India. All KCI registered dogs come with a KCI registration certificate from the breeder, ensuring their pedigree. KCI representative may also visit the breeder at the time of whelping to ensure maintenance of breed standards.
As the only reputed governing body of dog breed standards, we always recommend getting a dog that has been registered through this organization in order to have clarity regarding their origin.

This does, however not ensure the conditions the pup was reared in or in what manner their parents might have been treated. This concern is what brings us to our next point: AWBI Certification

Significance of AWBI

The Animal Welfare Board of India requires that any individual selling any living dog must be registered with the animal welfare state board of their jurisdiction. In not doing so, both the buyer and seller are committing a crime.

Since this amendment was passed, it became illegal to buy / sell dogs without the breeder being the valid, original holder of an AWBI license. Apart from this judicial responsibility, AWBI also has strict guidelines regarding the conditions that the dogs must be kept in and the treatment provided to them. These guidelines make sure breeders follow responsible breeding practices Due to these reasons, we strictly work only with AWBI registered breeders, and implore you to do the same.

How can you make a difference?

Ensure that you only work with AWBI registered breeders, and if you're looking for a purebred dog try to find one that is KCI registered. By forcing the breeders to obtain a license, we may finally put an end to puppy mills and unethical breeding practices.

Pay

Given that you are satisfied with all aspects of the puppy, delivery / pickup will be scheduled according to your convenience. You may make the payment via UPI, NEFT, or RTGS - post which your pup shall be dispatched within 3 days.
