History

The Labrador Retriever breed originated on Newfoundland, an island off Canada's northern Atlantic coast. Beginning in the 1700s, Labrador retrievers—originally known as St. John's dogs after the capital of Newfoundland—served as friends and assistants to the community's fisherman. Because of the dog's usefulness and pleasant temperament, English sportsmen brought a few Labrador retrievers to their country to use as hunting retrievers. Amazingly, Labradors, currently the most popular breed of dog in America, were on the verge of extinction in the 1880s. The Malmesbury family and other English supporters are credited with preserving the species. The Labrador Retriever overtook other breeds to take the top spot among dogs registered with the American Kennel Club in 1991, and they have continued to do so ever since.

Today, labs are employed in the detection of drugs and explosives, search and rescue operations, rehabilitation, the support of people with impairments, and as retrievers for hunters. They also do well in all dog contests, including obedience, agility, field, and show.

Personality

The Lab has a reputation for being one of the kindest breeds, and this reputation is well-founded. They are sociable to both people and other animals, outgoing, and ready to please. In addition to having a winning attitude, they are intelligent and eager to please, making them simple to train. Due to their high level of energy and excitement, this breed obviously needs training. The Lab is active since it has a working history. This breed requires mental and physical activities to remain happy. The level of activity among Labs varies; some are raucous, while others are more sedate. We all benefit from activity. The adorable Lab is certainly not a backyard dog and deserves to be with its family.

They'll likely damage their saintly reputation if left alone for too long: A lonely, bored Lab is likely to dig, chew, or do other destructive behaviours as a way of pass the time.

Care

Labs vary in their levels of activity, but they all require action—both physical and mental. Your Lab will benefit from daily 30-minute walks, romps in the dog park, and fetch games as some of the best activities to help them burn off energy. A puppy should only play for a short while at a time and should not be taken for excessively extended walks. Given their reputation as workaholics, labrador retrievers tend to become worn out. You decide when play and practise sessions are over. Like all retrievers, the Lab is a mouthy breed and is happiest when carrying something in their mouth. Additionally, they like to chew, so keep durable toys on hand at all times unless you want your couch chewed up.

Importance of KCI

Also known as the Kennel Club of India, KCI is a professional body that maintains strict standards across various breeds of dogs across India. All KCI registered dogs come with a KCI registration certificate from the breeder, ensuring their pedigree. KCI representative may also visit the breeder at the time of whelping to ensure maintenance of breed standards.
As the only reputed governing body of dog breed standards, we always recommend getting a dog that has been registered through this organization in order to have clarity regarding their origin.

This does, however not ensure the conditions the pup was reared in or in what manner their parents might have been treated. This concern is what brings us to our next point: AWBI Certification

Significance of AWBI

The Animal Welfare Board of India requires that any individual selling any living dog must be registered with the animal welfare state board of their jurisdiction. In not doing so, both the buyer and seller are committing a crime.

Since this amendment was passed, it became illegal to buy / sell dogs without the breeder being the valid, original holder of an AWBI license. Apart from this judicial responsibility, AWBI also has strict guidelines regarding the conditions that the dogs must be kept in and the treatment provided to them. These guidelines make sure breeders follow responsible breeding practices Due to these reasons, we strictly work only with AWBI registered breeders, and implore you to do the same.

How can you make a difference?

Ensure that you only work with AWBI registered breeders, and if you're looking for a purebred dog try to find one that is KCI registered. By forcing the breeders to obtain a license, we may finally put an end to puppy mills and unethical breeding practices.

Pay

Given that you are satisfied with all aspects of the puppy, delivery / pickup will be scheduled according to your convenience. You may make the payment via UPI, NEFT, or RTGS - post which your pup shall be dispatched within 3 days.
