Learn more about the breed
History
In the year 1107 Henry I of Britain invited a community of master craftsmen from Flanders, located in modern day Belgium, to live and work in Southwestern Wales. The weavers accepted Henry’s invitation and brought all they needed to re-create their agrarian way of life in their new homeland. This included the dogs they bred to herd cattle and sheep.
These sturdy, short-legged herders were the foundation for the breed we now know as the Pembroke Welsh Corgi - named after the popular breeding center of Pembrokeshire.
Also known as the queen’s dog - the world’s most famous Pembroke fan is Elizabeth II. The queen got her first Pembroke, Dookie, in 1933 and has not been without one or more since.
Personality
This breed has an excellent disposition, is highly affectionate, loyal, and they adore their families. Additionally, Corgis need to be around their humans the majority of the time to prevent destructive behaviors, and this is perfect for families who have children or stay-at-home moms.
Being extremely vocal dogs, they bark a lot to communicate with humans & animals alike, making them a bad fit if you have nosy neighbors (this makes them great watchdogs despite their small stature).
While they are easy to train, don't expect your Pembroke to be subservient. They like to think for themselves. Being extremely smart herding dogs, they may be trained to work in a variety of different roles.
Care
The Corgi's coat is short and made of two layers—a coarse topcoat and a soft, thick, waterproof undercoat. The double coat means that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi sheds a lot. Pembrokes do not do well in extreme temperatures and should not be outdoors much during extreme hot or cold weather. Other than routine brushing to maintain coat health and decrease excessive shedding, the Corgi's grooming needs are minimal.
They are also prone to being overweight, so it’s important to keep an eye on how much food they consume and if it is causing them to gain pounds. If so, a reduced-calorie diet, along with minimal to no treats or human food, is recommended.
Even though they are small dogs, Pembrokes have a lot of energy and need a healthy amount of exercise each day, to prevent any destructive bahviour.

Why AWBI & KCI?
Importance of KCI
Also known as the Kennel Club of India, KCI is a professional body that maintains strict standards across various breeds of dogs across India. All KCI registered dogs come with a KCI registration certificate from the breeder, ensuring their pedigree. KCI representative may also visit the breeder at the time of whelping to ensure maintenance of breed standards.
As the only reputed governing body of dog breed standards, we always recommend getting a dog that has been registered through this organization in order to have clarity regarding their origin.
This does, however not ensure the conditions the pup was reared in or in what manner their parents might have been treated. This concern is what brings us to our next point: AWBI Certification
Significance of AWBI
The Animal Welfare Board of India requires that any individual selling any living dog must be registered with the animal welfare state board of their jurisdiction. In not doing so, both the buyer and seller are committing a crime.
Since this amendment was passed, it became illegal to buy / sell dogs without the breeder being the valid, original holder of an AWBI license. Apart from this judicial responsibility, AWBI also has strict guidelines regarding the conditions that the dogs must be kept in and the treatment provided to them. These guidelines make sure breeders follow responsible breeding practices Due to these reasons, we strictly work only with AWBI registered breeders, and implore you to do the same.
How can you make a difference?
Ensure that you only work with AWBI registered breeders, and if you're looking for a purebred dog try to find one that is KCI registered. By forcing the breeders to obtain a license, we may finally put an end to puppy mills and unethical breeding practices.
